Charles E. Croke and Piers W. Lucker, both members of Boy Scout Troop 174 in Simsbury, were honored at an Eagle Court of Honor on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013 at Simsbury United Methodist Church.
Charlie, son of Suzanne and David Croke, is a junior at Simsbury High School. Charlie chose to help the Simsbury Historical Society as his Eagle Scout project. The project involved creating a set of eight smaller, transportable benches modeled after existing long benches. The new benches will be used throughout the property for any future events or tours the Historical Society will be hosting. In addition to Scouts, Charlie rows for the JV and Varsity Crew team at Simsbury High School.
Piers, son of Meghan and John Lucker, is a junior at Simsbury High School. Piers also focused on the Simsbury Historical Society for his Eagle Scout project, where he led the design, construction and installation of an information board and kiosk at the Phelps Tavern Museum Visitors Center. In addition to Boy Scouts, Piers has been a member of the Simsbury High School Boys Varsity soccer team since his sophomore year. He also continues to play travel soccer with the Simsbury Soccer Club U-17 team. In addition, Piers volunteers every Saturday morning as a Mentor with the TOPSoccer program here in Simsbury, working with soccer players with physical/mental challenges. Piers joins his two older brothers, Connor and Taran, in earning the rank of Eagle Scout from Troop 174.
